"How can I become a true coffee brewing badass?"
It's a—nay, it's the question that has both baffled and intrigued all of mankind for over a thousand generations.
Well, at least for those of us who take our coffee seriously.
For too long, we have let the big guys at Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts monopolize the coffee scene, with their confusing coffee beverage renaming schema, burnt beans, and generally underwhelming brews.
Well, all of that's about to change.
This list is for all you aspiring home baristas looking to level up your coffee game. Let's get started!
1. Get the right tools.
That $10 store-brand Mr. Coffee dupe you bought while you were back in school just isn't going to cut it. If you want to experience "coffee brewing bliss" at home, you need to have the right tools.
Without them, you're going to be stuck with subpar coffee no matter how good your beans are.
That means getting a quality coffee grinder—to grind quality coffee beans, of course—and using a brewing method that vibes with you.

2. Grind your own beans.
Coffee aficionados will tell you that one of the keys to making great coffee is grinding your own beans. This allows you to control the grind size, which can have a big impact on flavor.
It also ensures that your grounds are as fresh as possible, which is important for maintaining flavor and aroma. (Also, don't forget to clean your grinder regularly!)
3. Use filtered water.
Another important element in making great coffee is using filtered water. This helps to remove impurities and "excessive" minerals that can impact flavor.
Some of the things in unfiltered tap water that most impact coffee flavor include calcium, magnesium, and—a little more unappetizing—chlorine.
If you don't have a filtration system of some kind at home, you can simply use bottled spring water.
But don't use distilled water—the lack of naturally-occuring minerals can make even gourmet coffee taste less than spectacular. And that’s not what we want.
4. Experiment with different brewing methods.
There are a number of different ways to brew coffee, and each one will produce a slightly different flavor.
So, if you're looking to take your coffee game to the next level, it's worth experimenting with different brewing methods.
Some of the most popular include French press, AeroPress, and Pour Over brewing.
5. Experiment with different varieties of coffee.
In addition to experimenting with different brewing methods, it's also worth trying out different types of coffee. There are limitless varieties of beans, roasts, origins, and blends available, each with their own completely unique flavor profile.
So, experiment with different coffees to find the ones that you like best. We have a wide variety of ground and whole bean coffees to choose from, so you're sure to find some that are perfect for you.
So, there you have it! Five ways to take your coffee brewing game to the next level.
With these five tips in mind, you're well on the path to becoming a coffee brewing badass.
Now, go forth and brew!
