How Much Caffeine Does An Apple Have?

How much caffeine is in an apple

Rumor: Is there a much caffeine in an apple as a cup of coffee?

We’ve heard some crazy claims over the years. One of the weirdest is that an Apple has the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee. Crazy, we know.

This might be one of the best examples of why you can’t believe everything you hear on Facebook or TikTok. Yet, we had to investigate just to make sure.

An Apple contains zero caffeine. None. Zip. Nada. Why this claim gained any steam we have no idea. Apples contain sugar but no caffeine.

Why Does an Apple wake me up?

If you are one of the few who are lucky to experience an energy boost from eating an apple, it is not from caffeine. Apples contain roughly 19 grams of natural sugar which can give your body a brief energy boost. Unlike processed sugars, the body will feel a tiny energy boost from natural fruit based sugars and will not sustain as hard of a crash.

Not to mention natural sugar is not likely to effect weight gain in the same way as processed sugars and have a lesser effect on blood sugar, but not none.

Keep it mind a cup of coffee will provide a far greater energy boost from caffeine than sugar from an apppe. A cup of coffee typically has 120-500 mg of caffeine while an apple only has 19 grams of sugar.

For those who drink their coffee black, you are getting a caffeinated energy boost with only 2 calories

So for those who hate coffee and were hoping to sneak in some caffeine by eating apples, we are sorry to burst you bubble, or rather your apple.
